Festival Venue

FAME Festival Canberra 2019 will be held at ‘Canberra Park’, a single-storey air-conditioned venue located in Old Well Station Rd off the Federal Highway in Watson.  Purpose-built in April 2017, it “offers a new standard of specifically designed accommodation for groups visiting our nation’s capital”.  Free on-site parking is available.  ‘Canberra Park’ is 9km north of the Canberra’s Canberra Centre (CBD) precinct which is centred on Bunda St, Civic.

TRANSPORT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE VENUE:

By bus: From Canberra Park, a 12-minute (1.1km) walk will take you to the Flemington Rd/Old Well Station Rd bus stop.  From there, a 15- to 19-minute ‘RedRapid’ bus ride will take you to the City Bus Station and Civic shops.  There is a #200 bus every 15 minutes from 6.12am to 10.04pm Monday to Friday and there are also weekend buses.  Information about bus tickets and fares is at: https://www.transport.act.gov.au/myway-and-fares/fares.

By car: It is a 15-minute drive to the Canberra Centre, with paid parking available.

NEARBY SHOPS:

Capital Region Farmers Market: Open Saturdays 7.30-11.30am.  In Stirling Ave south of Canberra Park, the Markets are 600m or a 6-minute walk away.

McDonald’s Mitchell:  Open 5.30am-11pm every day.  On the Federal Highway south of Canberra Park, it is 500m or a 5-minute walk away.

Watson Shops: The closest local shops are the Watson Shops in Knox Street, a 1.6km  or a 20-minute walk away.

FESTIVAL ATTENDANCE AS A NON-RESIDENT

Attendees can opt to participate in the Festival as a Non-Resident Performer:

  • Festival Fee including ‘NR Meal Pack’ (no accom): $420 pp (Non-Resident Performer).

ROOMS:
Accommodation is in 2 large ‘pods’ with a central communal spine and accommodation rooms off the communal area.  All pods including all accommodation rooms are air-conditioned and all rooms have their own en-suite bathroom.

Single Rooms: The venue has a limited number of dedicated Single Rooms – please note that these are all now booked.

  • Festival Fee including Single Room accom and All Meals: $1,100 pp (Resident Performer).

Twin-Share Rooms: All other  rooms at Canberra Park contain 2 bunks.  Most of these have been booked as Single Rooms and will provide the occupant with great storage for instruments etc.  These rooms can also be booked as Twin-Share Rooms – your preference may be to use the lower two beds and still use the upper beds for instruments storage.

  • Festival Fee including Twin-Share Room accom and All Meals: $980 pp (Resident Performer).
  • Festival Fee including Twin-Share Room accom and All Meals: $780 pp (Resident Non-Performer).

Disability Accessible Single Rooms: Each pod also has one or two Disability Accessible Single Rooms.  These rooms may be available on request – please contact the Festival  Registrar at: famefestival2019reg@gmail.com .

  • Festival Fee including Single Room accom and All Meals: $1,100 pp (Resident Performer).

MEALS:
‘All Meals’: For all Residents (Performers and Non-Performers), your Festival Fee includes:

  • all Breakfasts (Monday-Sunday), Lunches (Monday-Saturday) and Dinners (Sunday-Saturday) including the ‘Welcome’ Dinner on Sunday 6 January and Friday’s ‘Formal’ Dinner with drinks
  • all Morning and Afternoon Teas (except on the Excursion day, Wednesday), and
  • Saturday night’s After-Concert Party with drinks.

‘NR Meal Pack’: For all Non-Residents (Performers and Non-Performers), your Festival Fee includes:

  • 5 Lunches (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat), Sunday’s ‘Welcome’ Dinner and Friday’s ‘Formal’ Dinner with drinks
  • all Morning and Afternoon Teas (except on the Excursion day, Wednesday), and
  • Saturday night’s After-Concert Party with drinks.
  • Please note that:
    • Breakfasts are not included. These are not available to Non-Resident attendees, i.e. cannot be ordered individually and cannot be self-served.
    • Dinners on Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Sat are not included, but one or more of these ‘one-off’ Dinners can be ordered and paid for in advance (indicative cost $20 each; TBC).  If you’d like to attend any/all of these Dinners, please advise the Festival Registrar ASAP by email (but by at least ONE WEEK prior to the start of the Festival), so they can be pre-ordered for you.
